Support the community wiki
An independent, community-contributed cacao archive.
Open Cacao Index is a non-commercial open-data archive of cacao at origin. It carries no advertising, no affiliate links, and processes no transactions on this site. It runs on community contribution and a small editorial team.
What you are supporting
An open, multilingual archive of 239 cacao origins across 49 producing countries, classified by the ten genetic clusters of Motamayor et al. 2008, PLoS ONE 3(10):e3311 (genetic clusters). The archive is free to read, free to cite, and free to share under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. It is maintained by the Open Cacao Index editorial team with growing community contribution in 24 languages.
How support helps
Support covers hosting, dataset verification, expanding coverage to new origins, deepening the genetic and processing layers, and recruiting community contributors. The archive remains non-commercial in perpetuity — support underwrites that promise.
Donation channels
Specific donation platforms are being established. Channels will be listed here once configured. The Open Cacao Index does not collect payment on this site — all support flows through external, transparent platforms.
Other ways to help
Contribute new origin records or corrections. Translate prose in your language. Cite the Open Cacao Index in your research, journalism, or teaching. Share the archive with researchers, makers, and educators. Link to specific origin records from your work.
What this page is not
This is not an affiliate page. No transactions, no purchases, and no commissions originate on this site. The archive remains free and advertisement-free in perpetuity. Commercial use of the dataset requires a separate licence. Read the full licence.
