서아프리카의 비교적 작은 생산국으로, 전국 카카오의 90% 이상이 케네마, 카일라훈, 코노를 포함한 동부주에서 나오며 면적 기준으로 카일라훈이 가장 큰 군이다. 수확량은 평균 헥타르당 300~400kg이다. Lizard Earth(케네마, 약 2,300~2,500 농가, 2020년 유기농 인증)와 NGOCFU(케네마, 약 1,743 농가, 2020년 페어트레이드 인증)가 이끄는 협동조합·공동체 모델이 일부는 골라 열대우림 완충 지대에서 나온 유기농 및 파인 플레이버 로트를 공급한다.
